Vocal and Instrumental Tuition

The Ormiston College Music Department provides one of the most comprehensive and high quality Music Tuition programs available in Queensland. The College’s Music Tuition program has long had a reputation for producing outstanding result and engaging our students as lifelong musicians. The Music Tuition program is a very important part of the Music Department and provides the opportunity for all students from Prep to Year 12 to be engaged with our Music program and learn an instrument. The Music Tuition program is underpinned by the Dimensions of Learning framework, providing individualised learning for all students in a one on one environment. Our highly dedicated and experienced Music Tutors have a wealth of experience in teaching their instrument from beginner to advanced levels. Our Music Tutors are also professionals in the music industry and provide high quality learning experiences for all of their students.

The College offers a very broad range of instruments in our Music Tuition program, from Prep to Year 12. OC students can select from:

Lessons are primarily organised as individual 30 minute lessons which occur during the school day. Prep piano students and some beginner students can learn in pairs.Extensive negotiations take place each year with both the Heads of Junior, Middle & Senior School to ensure the timetabling guidelines for Music Tuition allow all students to leave academic lessons and come to Music Tuition at suitable times. This may include:

• All Year 1 to 3 students are taught from Period 4 onwards
• All Year 4 & 5 students are taught prior to Morning Tea and after lunch
• All Year 6 & 7 students have a rotating timetable (published a term in advance) which ensure they do not miss the same academic lessons each week
• All Senior School students also have a rotating timetable.

Lessons before and after school are available, at the discretion of the individual Music Tutor. These lessons are primarily reserved for Year 12 students and those students studying more than one instrument.

Music for Little Mozarts  - Prep only

Enrolments are now being taken for Piano/Keyboard and Violin lessons for Prep students specifically designed to bring out the musician inside every child. Music Theory Classes 
Students involved in the Vocal & Instrumental Tuition Program at Ormiston College are strongly encouraged to enrol in group theory classes.  

Tuition and Fees
All students in the Tuition Program receive one half hour lesson per week. All tuition fees are charged to the normal school account and are to be paid in advance each term. Shared lessons are only available for the Prep Music for Little Mozarts Program.
